Fruit for 7.21

picking, picking, picking….for Tuesday market we will have more Rovada red currants, black currants (want to make jam or freeze a bunch?  ask about the ribes rebate), our red raspberries are finally producing quantity so look for more of these (the Boyne variety is recommened for freezing), a smaller amount of black raspberries, 4-5 varieties of gooseberries, and the Early Golden Plums should be ripe.  They are just juicy and sweet.  We may also have a small supply of sea berries on hand.  You need to taste them to believe them.

Gooseberries and currants are great freezing fruit.  The smaller berries are great in pancakes and waffles (as are the duck eggs), for baking in muffins and bread, and the larger berries are great in hot oatmeal and smoothies.  Get your vitamin C all winter.
