Crocus, snowdrops and green grass were not really the things I needed to see, to know the fruit plants will awake this year very early on the calendar.\u00a0 This sets up a greater potential for a possible hard frost during bloom time.\u00a0 We do have a few tricks up our sleeves, but the risk is real especially for certain types.\u00a0 I find myself wanting to think we&#8217;ll just have a really long intense season to produce amazing fruit.<\/p>\n<p>The high tunnel for raspberries is slowly being assembled, we&#8217;ll post some photos soon.<\/p>\n<p>The signs of spring made me view again one of my favorite photo collections by an artist Jane Alden Stevens.\u00a0 The pictures speak for themselves.\u00a0 Humbling.\u00a0\u00a0 Check them out at <a href=\"http:\/\/fractionmagazine.com\/artist\/janealdenstevens\/#.T1gmmPXV61u\">Fraction Magazine<\/a>!\u00a0 The apples sell for $5.00 or more a piece in Tokyo and other cities.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/daringdrake.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/japanese-apple-trees.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-972\" title=\"Burning Trimmed Branches, Spring, Aomori Prefecture\" src=\"https:\/\/daringdrake.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/japanese-apple-trees-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"339\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It was another warm day in a winter feeling like the balmy Carolinas.\u00a0 The black currants show signs of buds wanting to stretch in the sun.
