{"id":436,"date":"2010-10-31T10:59:44","date_gmt":"2010-10-31T14:59:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/daringdrake.com\/?p=436"},"modified":"2010-10-31T10:59:44","modified_gmt":"2010-10-31T14:59:44","slug":"winter-hibernation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/daringdrake.com\/wordpress\/winter-hibernation\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter Hibernation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We finally find time to write a few things!\u00a0 John hosted the apple tasting at Ovid Library\u00a0&#8211; 21 varieties of apples.\u00a0 We\u00a0 hope everyone also enjoyed Three Stone Farm&#8217;s popcorn\/maple syrup balls, Muranda Farm&#8217;s cheeses, and Lively Run Goat Dairy&#8217;s cheese.\u00a0 Not to mention all those apple pies!\u00a0 It was a tasty day.<\/p>\n<p>As part of \u00a0the final CSA share members received quince.\u00a0 This is an unnamed variety that\u00a0was unsprayed and unloved this past season &#8211; and they look it!\u00a0 Quince is used throughout the world in meat sauces, sliced thinly and cooked briefly to soften, and as a fragrant addition to the house.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We have put out the email for current CSA members to rejoin.\u00a0 Please do so by mid November.\u00a0 On November 20th we will offer remaining shares to people who signed up for information this past season.<\/p>\n<p>We are currently taking orders for fruit trees and fruit plants for 2011.\u00a0 We will begin selling at the Ithaca Farmer&#8217;s Market in April 2011 offering trees and plants, duck eggs, jam and jelly.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>We are also seeking an intern for the 2011 season.\u00a0 Anyone who is interested should send an email for more information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We finally find time to write a few things!\u00a0 John hosted the apple tasting at Ovid Library\u00a0&#8211; 21 varieties of apples.\u00a0 We\u00a0 hope everyone also enjoyed Three Stone Farm&#8217;s popcorn\/maple syrup balls, Muranda Farm&#8217;s cheeses, and Lively Run Goat Dairy&#8217;s cheese.\u00a0 Not to mention all those apple pies!\u00a0 It was a tasty day.
